Musical Meditations Volume 1
The majority of the eight studies enclosed in this book were written over the last year and are heavily inspired by Jazz, Pop, Classical, Romantic, and Brazilian styles of music. The pieces focus on various rudimentary techniques quintessential to playing the bass. Not only are they a wonderful tool to help the evolving bassist improve the coordination, strength, and flexibility on their instrument, but they also serve as a wonderful guide leading the player through rich harmonic landscapes and lush melodic passages.
Since the pieces were written more like actual songs than studies, there is also an incredibly stable and coherent thematic foundation that is interwoven through each of the eight meditations.
I would also like to point out that two of the pieces in the book are inspired by and modeled loosely after the Brazilian Choro form.
Due to the range of the more adventurous chordal pieces in the book, I have scored them out using the grand staff. I have also included bass tablature for the students that have not yet mastered reading standard music notation.
It is my hope that the students studying these meditations will find them captivating, inspiring, and fun to play.
This is a collection of 8 studies written for the bass.
